Firewise Needs To Be A Community Priority
There are those who sadly enough, state that Firewise is "Big Brother" trying to tell us what to do. Those individuals are very much in error, as the Firewise program is a community program which is administered at a national level. There are a number of national organizations that endorse the program, but it is strictly up to the community to conduct their own program.

have video tapes at the Fire Station that we are willing to show you, and we will explain the program.
Anyone who has suggestions for the Black Forest Firewise Program, please let us know. You are always welcome to attend our regular Fire Company Meetings.
Pine Creek Valley COG Evaluates Local Fire Stations
On September 1, 2007 the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development issued a report entitled "Fire Protection Evaluation", A Survey of the Fire Protection and Operations of the Area Served by the Pine Creek "Council of Governments, Lycoming, Tioga, and Clinton Counties, Pennsylvania for the Pine Creek Valley COG.
The Pine Creek Valley Council of Governments (COG) is an advisory group made up of appointed supervisors from the various townships throughout the valley. There are no representatives from Black Forest Village, or from on top of the mountain along Route 44, serving on the COG.
The stated purpose of the evaluation was to evaluate the current status of Fire Companies to determine if they have the ability to effectively serve the population of visitors that are expected as a result of the PA Wilds Program. PA Wilds is a tourist promotional
